Banksia

Banksia is an original mixed media abstract painting by Kathryn Gruber, based on the banksia after the flower has died, when the seed pods open up.

Fascinated by their resemblance to laughing mouths, I always find them to be such a cheerful plant and wanted to depict this with saturated colour and bold shapes.
